Familiar Sounds
* This game will help your baby recognize different sounds in his environment.
* Each time you want to call attention to a sound, tell him its name, such as the telephone's ring, someone's footsteps, the splash of running water, or the doorbell's chime.
* Take your baby outside and identify the sounds that you hear. Listen for birds, airplanes, children playing, and so on. Again, if you can point to the source of the sound as you name it, this will help focus your baby’s attention.
* As your baby gets older, you can try asking him “Did you hear the telephone?”
Then pick up the telephone and say, “This is the telephone.”
