My Baby - Week by Week Pregnancy

Week 2 - Conception?

You may have conceived this week! If you have a regular, 28-day cycle, you probably ovulated this week and, if you were very lucky, one quick-swimming sperm met your egg in your fallopian tube and the rest is baby-making history!

Several sperm may penetrate the egg's outer layer, but only one sperm will enter the ovum and fertilize it. If you released more than one egg this month or if a single egg split, you may be carrying twins or even triplets!

Your baby's gender is already determined, as the sex chromosome is contained in sperm. The fertilized egg is now on its way down your fallopian tube toward your uterus where it will implant and begin to grow.
